The Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition has reiterated calls for Zimbabwe president, Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF party to exit the governance stage as they had failed to address the country’s problems.

Speaking in Johannesburg, during a briefing to local, regional and international media, CiZC Spokesperson, Mfundo Mlilo said time had come for pressure to be put on Mugabe and the ruling party to leave the governance of the country to other people.

“It is clear that Mugabe and ZANU-PF have failed to address the challenges in Zimbabwe. We have to revive the message that Mugabe and ZANU-PF must go,” said Mlilo.

However, he made it clear that it was difficult for Zimbabweans to organise and demand the fulfilment of this messaged in the absence of strong enabling platforms.

“In 2007, we ran several campaigns as organised civil society. We made sure that we were heard. It is this kind of spirit that we need to revive. As citizens, we need to converge on one platform and demand change” he added.
